Atkins, Mott MacDonald and Tarmac top the 2023 TechFest Awards shortlist

The awards, organised by NCE and sister publication Construction News, celebrate achievements in effective use of technology in engineering and construction. They recognise advances by organisations, teams, individuals and projects from across the industry.

In total, 115 entries were shortlisted across 18 categories for the 2023 awards, recognising advances in the use of technology in civil engineering and construction. An expert judging panel considered entries from firms leveraging technology to deliver on goals including digital engineering, design efficiency, carbon reduction, artificial intelligence and health and safety.

This year Atkins has eight entries while Mott MacDonald has seven, while the shortlist also includes entries from Aecom, Balfour Beatty, Jacobs, Laing O’Rourke, Skanska, Stantec and WSP, as well as Anglian Water and the Environment Agency.

Atkins was shortlisted for the best use of technology in categories including Carbon Reduction, Design Efficiency and Digital Engineering.

Mott MacDonald was shortlisted for categories including Health, Safety & Wellbeing, Digital Construction and Design Efficiency.

Aecom’s shortlisted entries covered categories including Design Efficiency and Consultant of the Year: Technical Excellence. Jacobs’ shortlisted entries included Best Use of Technology in a Project, while WSP’s included Best Use of Technology: Artificial Intelligence.

Projects recognised in the shortlist for their use of technological advances include HS2, the Hexham Flood Alleviation Scheme, Sizewell C and Heathrow Airport.

The TechFest Awards 2023 ceremony will take place at the Hilton London Bankside Hotel on 23 November.
