NCE’s TechFest returned with a bang yesterday.
After last year’s Covid-enforced break, TechFest returned bigger and better than ever.
A full day conference featuring talks from senior figures at HS2 Ltd, Network Rail and National Highways (among others), was followed by the coveted TechFest Awards ceremony.
HR Wallingford, Peri and Bryden Wood all took home two gongs apiece for their respective innovations.
HR Wallingford’s DAMSAT technology which monitors dams using satellites claimed two awards.
Bryden Wood was awarded for its kit-of-parts solution for a London office block as well as its automated cable routing management system.
While Peri won two awards in relation to its work on the Regent’s Street flyover replacement project in Leeds.
Other winners included Aecom, Eurovia and Bam Nuttall (see full list of winners below).
NCE editor Claire Smith said: “Awards like TechFest are critical to raising the profile of successful applications, sharing emerging best practice and bring forward new talent too.
“It is clear that we are facing a future where we need to really demonstrate the value of our projects. And that value isn’t just about cost.
“We need to be able to demonstrate that we are delivering value for the communities that use and live with the infrastructure we are delivering. We need to demonstrate value in terms of balancing the environmental impact of our work with the benefits it delivers. And we need to demonstrate value in terms of how we deliver our work -the productivity and efficiency – too.
“Digital tools and greater use of technology holds the key to solving many of those problems, but we need to really understand the challenge in order to really deliver on the solutions.”
