Network Rail is gearing up to start two electrification works this weekend as lines in Glasgow and between Wigan and Bolton will close.

The transport committee has written to Mark Harper calling the government’s response to its decarbonisation report “disappointing” and has demanded a long-term rail electrification strategy.
